Sewage Treatment Plant Installation Ceremony at Universitas Pertamina
Jakarta, July 1, 2025 — As part of a global commitment to protect the environment and create a sustainable future, a ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to mark the installation of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Universitas Pertamina. The donation of one STP unit using the Johkasou system, a wastewater treatment technology from Japan, represents the continuation of collaboration between Daiki Axis and Universitas Pertamina in supporting sustainable development in the education sector.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including the Rector of Universitas Pertamina, Prof. Dr. Ir. Wawan Gunawan A. Kadir, MS., IPU, Mr. Hiroshi Ogame, Chairman of Daiki Axis Co., Ltd., and Ueda Hajime, Minister of Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia.
In his remarks, Mr. Hiroshi Ogame expressed his appreciation for the partnership and reaffirmed the company’s mission, which is aligned with sustainability values. “With the slogan PROTECT × CHANGE, we are committed to creating a better future for people and the planet through water treatment solutions. This STP donation is not only a representation of the technology we have, but also a reflection of our shared vision to address environmental challenges in a tangible way,” said Ogame.
The donated Johkasou system is capable of treating domestic wastewater to meet the environmental quality standards set by the Government of Indonesia. This technology will be utilized in Universitas Pertamina’s campus facilities, particularly as a learning medium for the Environmental Engineering program, including the treatment of wastewater from newly developed toilets. With this system, wastewater can be managed efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner, supporting the university in creating a sustainable educational ecosystem.
In his speech, the Rector of Universitas Pertamina emphasized that this initiative is also part of the university’s participation in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2025, which measures higher education institutions’ contributions toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The collaboration with Daiki Axis serves as a concrete manifestation of the university’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Beyond the STP donation, the ceremony also opened opportunities for further collaboration between Daiki Axis and Universitas Pertamina, particularly in the fields of education and environmental research. “We hope this collaboration marks the beginning of a broader partnership, especially in research and the development of applicable environmental technologies,” said the Rector.
Echoing this sentiment, Ueda Hajime from the Embassy of Japan stressed the importance of maintaining clean water and preventing groundwater and river pollution. “This type of initiative is highly strategic. Beyond equipment installation, sustainable maintenance is also essential. We support joint research so that the outcomes can be shared not only in Indonesia but also across Southeast Asia,” Hajime stated.
As a company that prioritizes social responsibility and technological innovation, Daiki Axis believes that collaboration with the education sector is key to building awareness and expertise among the younger generation in protecting the environment. This donation marks the beginning of a collaborative ecosystem that brings together industry, academia, and society to create a greener future.
